Heritage and educational multimedia production

Specialising in historical, educational and tourism multimedia production, Kingfisher Multimedia can create media in most formats including video, dvd, web and media cards, that can be used from classrooms to interpretation centres as well as location based media for education, historical and tourism projects.

Location based media is fast becoming the way to "visualise" a wide variety of concepts. By using simple ground based location markers, guided tours can be produced to enhance the user's experience of any attraction whether for educational or tourism purposes. GPS guidance is also available with the correct equipment, depending on the amount of interactivity required, but experience has shown that there is much more user involvement and interactivity with basic landmarks or posts. Different ways of navigating the route can be designed into the marker based tours, from map coordinates (for the orienteers) to clues and questions (for explorers of all ages). With the ability to operate on a range of platforms from websites and palm computers through mp3/mp4 players and games consoles to mobile phones, location based media allows the end user to be immersed in a world of history and nature either in the comfort of their own home or whilst walking around predetermined routes within, for example, museums, historic houses and gardens, national parks or even old towns and cities. The possibilities are almost endless.

When you have your idea, Kingfisher Multimedia will work with you to make your story come to life, mixing contemporary video with archive film, photographs and an informative and sympathetic narrative scriptwritten by you or by our own researchers and writers.

If required, the project can generate revenue in a variety of ways. The "tours" can be preloaded onto simple and inexpensive multimedia players and hired out from your own interpretation centres, through museums and tourist information centres. Downloads can be made available from your own website and the "tours" can be sold on cd-rom or card media from a variety of outlets (if you do not yet have a website or are planning to create one specially for the project, Kingfisher Multimedia has a partner that can design a bespoke site for you).
